My desire to paint and draw is inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us. Since childhood I have been enthralled with wildflowers, and looked forward to discovering them in season year after year!
I began sketching and painting watercolors of some of my favorite flowers in the 1980’s, and developed a line of hand painted note cards and enclosures that were sold in Oregon and Washington. I had wildflower shirts, both silk screened and hand painted for several years, and eventually had cards printed as well. Now in my retirement I am painting once again, and excited to have the time to spend my time this way. I like to paint flowers as I find them in their natural environment and create botanical landscapes. I have enjoyed taking watercolor classes, including plein air, and now have time to attend weekly sessions with fellow painters.
My hope is that the beauty I see in nature is apparent in the painting that I share with you as springtime commences and the wildflowers bloom again. ---Jane Pierson
